DJ SMARTIEZ

From right here in Toronto to all the way to South Africa, DJ Smartiez can be heard on the airwaves weekly. DJ’ing for some of the biggest artists in the industry, Smartiez has really made a name for himself. He’s had the pleasure of playing for the likes of The Weeknd, Rihanna and the man of Toronto himself, Drake. He’s even had the honor of being the opening DJ for Big Sean, and playing alongside the talents of Kes The Band, Skinny Fabulous, Kerwin DuBois and many more. Taking an active part in the community as well, Smartiez has had his fair share of spotlight in the communal eye.

Smartiez wants to continue to push the limits of music and culture through his work. As a DJ, he hopes to influence and bring awareness to Caribbean culture.

JOSHUA LUCAS

In less than the past 10 years, Joshua Lucas has blazed his own trail of a career in Toronto's music andentertainment scene. Known as "The Future”, Lucas has taken a role as a cultural preserver of authenticJamaican and Afro-Caribbean music and culture through deejaying, live music, event promotion and musicproduction. Driven by the record collection of his Jamaican family, by the age of 3, music became Joshua’sfavourite thing to do and see. By the age of 9, Joshua had begun deejaying and playing drums and piano. Inthe years following, Joshua continued to refine his skills and also created his own design, A/V and eventproduction company Avalanche Productions in 2012.

His music selection, versatility, mixing and knowledge began getting attention from hearts around Torontoincluding industry heavy hitters such as Jones and Jones Productions, which led to his premiere at JAMBANAOne World Festival at the tender age of 15. He has shared stages with many international artists and deejaysincluding Shabba Ranks, Yellowman, and Marcia Griffiths. Lucas’ career has not been limited to just the Reggaecommunity as he has spread his talents to the soca scene through Jamaal Magloire’s Toronto Revellers MasBand, corporate events for companies such Bell Canada, Revera Living and CIBC, weddings and private events,and several school events for a variety of school boards.

Today, Joshua continues to preserve and promote Reggae culture through his own event “Skankin’ Sweet: TheSpirit of Reggae Music”. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Joshua has expanded his endeavours to livestreaming through the Twitch platform and soundclash culture through the newly organized NationalSoundclash League and collective Team Eastsyde. Outside of Toronto, Joshua has showcased his talents in Quebec, Manitoba, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Turks & Caicos, the United Kingdom and Trinidad &Tobago.
